How Our Moving Quote Review Methodology Works
A MoveQuote Check report keeps document evidence, deterministic relationships, official records, and the consumer's decision separate. AI assists with reading; it does not invent official facts or decide whether to book.
1. Scope and Document Validation
- We first check whether the file is readable and appears to be a supported U.S. interstate moving estimate.
- Optional Buyer Context is kept separate from document evidence and used only to identify terms that may need confirmation.
- Unreadable files need a clearer copy; unsupported moves do not receive a federal-rule review.
- Technical or scope failures are not findings about the mover.
2. AI-Assisted Document Understanding
- AI reads your uploaded document and extracts text and structure.
- Blurry scans, missing pages, handwriting, and complex layouts can cause extraction errors.
- AI output is not legal advice and is never the final word on your contract.
3. Structured Agreement and Relationships
- Extracted terms are organized into estimate type, pricing basis, services, fees, entities, timing, valuation, and deposit fields.
- Server-side rules compare related clauses across pages and do not invent missing facts.
- Missing information drives clarification; it does not become an evidence-backed finding by itself.
4. Deterministic Calculations
- Supported totals, deposit percentages, formulas, and liability examples are calculated from extracted inputs.
- A disclosed percentage or normal fee is not a problem merely because it exists.
- When the inputs reconcile, the result can be shown as confirmed.
5. Official FMCSA Data Comparison
- Official company data comes from FMCSA public records and is produced independently of any AI text generation.
- Each report shows the data version and update time it relied on.
- Only information present in the official record is stated — and that data can lag behind reality or be incomplete.
6. Findings, Clarification, and Recheck
- Statuses distinguish confirmed facts, price exposure, needs clarification, missing information, and unable-to-verify states.
- Evidence includes exact document text, page references, calculations, or official source information where available.
- If offered, a secure mover response can trigger one Version 2 recheck showing resolved, still unclear, and new information.
7. Comparison, Change Tracking, and Human Decision
- Separately purchased reviews can be normalized into a factual two-to-four-quote comparison without rankings or recommendations.
- Supported later documents remain tied to a private Move Case so document, entity, and amount changes can be traced to their source versions.
- You should always re-check the original document yourself.
- Confirm important terms directly with the mover before you pay a deposit.
- MoveQuote Check does not decide which company you should hire or refuse.
What We Check
- Whether the estimate type (binding / non-binding) is stated
- Whether the pricing basis (weight, volume, hourly, or other) is clear
- Missing details that matter — pickup and delivery windows, deposits, valuation coverage
- Items that could trigger additional charges
- Whether the company name and identifiers match official FMCSA records
- For separately purchased quotes, normalized factual differences across two to four completed reviews
- For supported later documents, changes in documents, entities, and amounts over time
What We Do Not Check
- Whether a company is safe, trustworthy, or dishonest
- Whether a mover will actually charge a fair final price
- The quality of any mover's trucks, crews, or service
- Legal compliance of the contract or your specific situation
- Anything that requires a license, inspection, or legal judgment
Known Limitations
- Extraction can be wrong on low-quality scans, photos, or unusual layouts.
- A finding of "missing information" means the text did not show it — not that the mover is hiding it.
- Official FMCSA data can lag behind real-world changes and may be incomplete.
- Terms we use — missing information, unclear term, possible fee trigger, official record found, information mismatch, unable to verify — describe the document and the record, never a judgment about a company.
Data and AI Independence
The official company comparison uses FMCSA public data served from our own synchronized mirror. AI never generates, invents, or "fills in" official records — if the dataset does not contain something, the report says it was not found or could not be verified.
