Our Moving Quote and FMCSA Data Sources
A report keeps uploaded documents, mover responses, official company data, and derived calculations separate. Here is where each source comes from, how it is used, and what its limits are.
Your Uploaded Moving Estimate
- You upload it yourself — it contains the prices, services, and contract terms a mover gave you.
- It is not public data, and it is never published.
- It is never used to create public company pages or directories.
Mover Responses and Revised Quotes
- A mover sees only the clarification questions shared through a secure response link.
- Answers and a revised quote, when provided, are labelled as mover-provided information.
- Version 2 keeps the original review and shows what was resolved, remains unclear, or is new.
Buyer Context, Quote Comparison, and Move Case
- Optional Buyer Context is customer-provided information, not text extracted from a mover document.
- Quote Compare uses normalized fields from two to four separately purchased, completed quote reviews and does not rank movers.
- Move Case history identifies the source document and version for supported later-document, entity, and amount changes.
- These customer materials and derived histories are private and never feed public mover pages or directories.
Deterministic Calculations and Relationships
- Supported totals, percentages, and clause relationships are derived from cited document inputs.
- Derived results are labelled as calculations or relationships, not quoted as document text.
- Missing inputs produce an honest needs-clarification state rather than a guessed value.
FMCSA Official Data
- Production source: Motus Carrier - All With History (Socrata inys-ebih; API), plus Motus RevokeSuspend - All With History (Socrata wb4f-neki; API), published by the U.S. Department of Transportation / FMCSA.
- We synchronize current Motus authority records. If an entity has no Motus authority row, lookup may use Carrier - All With History (Socrata u4i8-4m26) as an explicitly labelled legacy-archive compatibility fallback. It is not the production primary source.
- Active FMCSA snapshot date: 2026-09-23. Official records themselves may lag behind this date.
- Last successful activation: 2026-09-24 07:01 UTC.
Data Update Process
- We check the official source on a daily schedule.
- It is not a real-time feed — recent changes at FMCSA may not appear immediately.
- An unchanged source file is skipped. If an import fails, the service keeps using the last successfully completed dataset.
Information We May Display
- Legal name and DBA name
- USDOT number and MC / FF / MX identifiers
- Entity role (carrier, broker, freight forwarder)
- Operating authority summary, including Household Goods authority
- Insurance filing summary
- Physical city and state
- The official data update date
Information We Do Not Publish
- Your uploaded files or their contents
- Your email address or order details
- Full street or mailing addresses of companies
- Telephone numbers, personal contacts, or email addresses from official records
- Raw official records (raw_record) or internal import identifiers
- Internal review scores
Limitations
- FMCSA data may be delayed or incomplete.
- A registration record is not a government recommendation or endorsement.
- Not finding a record does not prove fraud; finding one does not prove safety.
- Always verify important information directly with the mover before you book.

See something wrong on a page or in the data we display? Email support@mail.movequotecheck.com. MoveQuote Check cannot change official FMCSA records — corrections to the official record itself must go through FMCSA — but we will fix how we display it.
